Position Title: Head of Talent & Culture

George P. Johnson are seeking a Head of Talent & Culture who is responsible for leading and implementing the strategy, culture and performance of all people practices that leads to engaged and high-performing employees at GPJ UK and Norway.

About the Role

• To devise and own the organisational change management strategies across the company

• Accountable for the development of People strategies and objectives

• Re-define and be accountable for the organisational culture and design, moving beyond negative legacy, providing strong leadership in creating an inclusive and rewarding environment for all

• Create and implement an effective recruitment process that attracts and secures top talent

• Design and implement a sustainable learning and development framework, under the GPJ University brand

• Ensure the high visibility, focus and delivery of ‘People and Culture’ activities

• Responsible that all staff, both existing and new, are fully on board with the company’s vision for the future

• Establish a robust performance management structure which increases engagement, uncovers development opportunities and supports the agency objectives and contributes to the development of a high performing culture

Training & Development

• Review all current training areas, identify capability and skills gaps with line managers and Exec teams and implement learning and development programmes

• Launch GPJ University, integrating eLearning

• Set up an ‘academy’ focusing on effective line management and leadership, implementing a training programme for all existing and new managers

• Establishing a standard of excellence in each department which supports and promotes productivity Culture

• In support of learning and development, implement and grow the Women’s Mentoring Programme

• Lead the marketing and operation teams on internal communication which cultivates the agency’s culture and motivates employees – via newsletter, office bulletin boards, GPJ portal etc.

• Responsible for the strategy of GPJ Social events ensuring they are inspiring and add value

• Champion CSR initiatives throughout the company and promote the PWW charity match scheme

Talent Management

• Ownership of the Performance Management structure to include process, objective setting and measurement of success

• Management of an agency wide “talent map” which focuses on retention, succession planning and identifying talent gaps

• Continuously assessing satisfaction of employees to ensure talent is retained

• Integrate coaching and mentoring across the agency Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

• Oversee the recruitment strategy to ensure top talent is coming into the agency and Heads of Department are consistently hiring the right people

• Design the employee onboarding process to ensure that the new starter experience at GPJ reflects the company values

• Consolidation and consistency in GPJ’s intern programme and exploring avenues for additional apprenticeship opportunities which support diversity

Strategic Talent Leadership

• Act as a champion for the ‘people’ agenda to the leadership team and throughout the agency

• Act as a sounding board to Exec. Team in making people decisions

• Clearly and concisely presenting and communicating key people data to Exec team

• Actively keeping up to date with emerging HR trends and practices to influence change in the business that adds commercial value

About You

• Can effectively operate at a C-Suite level – having the ability to influence the leadership/Exec team and is not afraid to make unpopular decisions if there is a risk to the business

• A highly experienced coach who can act as a coach to Leadership team

• A willingness to take the initiative and identify where value can be added

• Excellent emotional intelligence and the ability to adapt to different people and environments

• Able to articulate and present ideas with conviction

• Proven track record in Change Management – both people and process

• Currently in a similar role in Media/Comms/Events industry

• Ability to effectively manage a Talent & Culture team to ensure the strategy, culture, performance and Ops of all people practices is delivered to a consistently high standard
